Kick Block
Ample practice time should be devoted to learning how to block kicks properly. Low and mid-level roundhouse kicks are normally blocked by checking the kick using the shin bone, assisted with the same side forearm to provide further protection. In this way, the fighter’s shin and forearm create a “wall of bone”. In the kick block, it is important that the knee slides to the inside of the elbow and not vice versa. Many fighters prefer to lift up the toes as this activates the muscles surrounding the shinbone and can ease the impact.
