Muay Thai/MMA Combo: Jab, Cross, Hook, Leg Kick, Uppercut
This Muay Thai/MMA striking combination feels very natural for the body to execute, as it alternates the attacks from both sides consecutively. It’s a good combination of strikes also for beginners, as it doesn’t include very difficult strikes such as high kicks. But it is this simplicity that makes it effective.
The combo starts with the basic “1-2”, or jab – cross combination. Then a left hook is thrown to change the angle of attack (now from the side after the straight first punches that bring the opponent’s guard to the front). If you can put enough force into the hook, the opponent’s weight will move to his left leg. This makes it difficult for him to raise his left leg for a kick check to defend against the following leg kick.
The 5-strike combo is finished by an uppercut. Utilize the bounce-back momentum of the landed low kick to throw a devastating “Francis Ngannou”-type of killer uppercut.
